fly over the nets. Returned to the waterfall and picked the remaining bats from last nite then to bed by the river at 11. Many ants made it difficult to find a good place.

7mi. N Tapalokee, Oax. to Tapachula, Chis.
up before 6 unable to sleep. A bad nite with bugs. on the road ley 7:45 to Amaza where we bought formalin ($28/l) and had breakfast at the Hotel Colon. then drove down 200 to Tapacule.
this area is even drier than before, which makes seeing streams easier. There are several promising ones - small in width (to 40' tree-to-tree), shallow, not many big rocks, many overhanging trees - they are as follows: ~82 Km mark, ~92 Km mark : both SE Tonalaa. Also one between the truly fine virgin forest at ~ km 212 and Hurstla. Will try for some of these later this week. Arrived Tapachula ~2.
Drove out the Nueva Allemagne rd to the bridge but this river is far too large to net. Came back in to town for lunch, then got a room at the Komico Motel before going out the rd. to Union Juarez to look for a site.
Ted Papenfuse had suggested this road. It climbs into the hills and all of the streams are very narrow (5') with many huge boulders and pools only a foot or two in longest dimension.
