Rio Laja vicinity, Chis. to 7mi N Tapanatepec, cap. Up about 7:30 and on the road by 10 after Sam hunted birds and we did some skeletons. Bought more food in Tuxtla then brunch at Restaurante "La Selva" - a fine place. On the road by 11:30 headed for Rizo de Oro. Passed Baker's 42km W Cuntalopa locality but this is now in very bad shape (agriculture) that we won't collect here. Went out the road to Colonia Figueroa at Rizo de Oro for 2 1/2 mi to a stream Ted Papenfuss had suggested but, while there was some water in it, it was far too open & dry away from the river to be worth anything. This road is terrible. Decided to net again 7mi N Tapanatepec and arrived there at 3:30. Will call this 7.3 km NE junct 180-20 (or 190), Oaxaca. I processed bats until 6:30. Sam set nets (3) about 1/4 mi upstream where a small tributary enters for the R (walking upstream). Caught the Trachops (right above the water) & Centurio in this net. Nets down by 9:00 as activity light. Saw many Pteronotus davyi (?)
