13 Sept.
Puebla, Puell. to Berkeley, Calif.
Up early then into Mexico City to the animal health
offices 15 Dr. Moro St. right on the Ave. Juarez Alameda.
They said we needed no more permits for the CO2 tank.
Then down 95 D to Acapulco, arriving here for dinner.
This road runs thru hilly country getting into caeti
N of Zumpango. It gets slightly more mesic on the coast.
Made it, thru thunderstorms that really blew Acapulco
around, to Petatlan, Guer. for the night of the 7th in
the only hotel we saw along this road.
Breakfast the 8th at truckstops near La Union,
then took 37 N from La Mira. Crossed the dam on
Rio Balsas & a drug check. This road is slow
until Cuatro Caminos where the plateau begin
to rise more slowly. Fairly mesic coastal hills.
At Uruapan began climbing again into pines
and by the time we hit Carapan & Rte 15, we
were on the plateau proper - Pines w/ grassland
