31 Aug, cont'd.
which I recognized from before. About 5:30 began climbing the trail which seems longer than the mile or so it must be - this is the only really used trail here. To reach the openings we worked one simply bears right every time upon entering the woods. Reached cave ~6 PM & bats were already milling around. Used a hand net over the big opening & scooped bats like mad till ~8PM. Got many Pt. parnellii, Pt. loveyi, fewer Pt. personata, 8 Natalus & 1 Anoura. Discarded all [illegible] Also ~4 Mormoops which were the last to come. Discarded all but 10 of everything upon reaching the car ~ 8:30. Then drove home. A drink & read then to bed.
1 Sept.
Simla
Up early & left for POS dry 10. Got ice in San Juan but the car wouldn't start. Finally got it going then on to get Permit. Couldn't get it today, must try tomorrow. Went to airport & got a new car, then checked up the freight & got name of shipping agent in POS house. Must ship tomorrow, so no more collecting. Home ~ 3 and relaxed. To bed late.

Up early & packed pickled bats & collecting equipment to send home. Offs ~ 10:30 to Permit office. Got permit and, with a little patience,
