D.D. Stacey 1977 82 21 Aug. Berkeley to Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. Left the museum at 7:45 PM w/ Carla Markman for S Fairport and our flight to Trinidad. Plane left at 9:30 PM by way of Las Vegas and Tampa to Miami. 22 Aug. Arrived Miami 7:17 AM and had breakfast. The flight to Trinidad (Eastern) was not until 3:55 PM so fought sleep sitting, lunelng, walking, reading, and talking until then - some wait! Finally left on Eastern. Landed 1st in St. Croix after a bumpy ride thru thunderclouds. The Island has 3 hills visible from the airport. Then dark and on to Antigua & St. Lucia before arriving - very worn out - at Port-of-Spain 1/2 hr late at 10 PM. One of my bags (clothes, etc) was lost so while I dealt w/ that, Carla got us thru customs. Gary McCracken met us and we went on up to Simla, the former WM Beele Tropical Res. Station of the NY Zool Soc. Had a rum drink then went to bed in our luxurious 3 room + bath suite in the "Slave Quarters". 23 Aug. Simla, Tr. Vicinity Up at 1 PM not completely rested from the flight. Gary took us to the University of West Indies where we did banking (only bank open past noon is here) and saw his electrophoretic set up. Then went shopping at shopping centre on Roosevelt Hwy.
