O. Shaney 1977 3 Aug. (cont'd.) Banco de Guatemala to change money and back uptown to browse in bookshops. Drove out to John's friends, the Drs. Dix who live just out of town. Had lunch there & talked for a while, then in to city to INOFAR headquarters to see about permits. Is a complex business but only real necessity is a letter from Wake claiming we're not unit for the money. Then to a handcraft center & browsed before returning to the Dix. Walked for hr in cypress woods behind their house. A late dinner then to bed. 4 Aug. Guatemala City, Guat. to Berkeley Up at 7:30 and finished packing Then off to airport. Arrived there by 8:45 & checked baggage. Then a quick breakfast & said goodbye to John. Plane left on : time at 10:25. Flew over Chiapas for a bit, then out to sea & back over Oaxaca. Flew directly over Volcan Popocatepetl & Mexico City. Customs in LA. Arrived SFO 4:55PM. Called Sam Sweet at Museum & got a ride home.
