D.O. Stacey 1977 66. 15 July, contd. is much different in aspect from the N. Forest is heavily cut and what remains is mostly pine/oak - unlike the lush, diverse, almost pine-free N slope. The road drops to Ixthán which is in a valley heavily disturbed and cultivated. A nice little river just N of Ixthán for setting nets. Got finally ~2pm then back up to Maclin where we walked a small rd on E right below Maclin, finding Thiorione. then back down to chapel & John looked some more there. It cleared ~ 6pm & we drove back over the summit taking pictures & marveling at the view. Dinner, then up to San Pedro Yolo' Rd to a likely net spot, but had thick high underbrush. Returned to Maclin & set net along the rd we walked. Up 8:45pm. Mist but no rain. By 9:45 nothing so went w/ John (who had walked road cuts on other spur finding 4 P. lumpy) to do cuts on SP Yolo' rd. This till 11:30 resulting in 4 more P. lumpy. Back to net - nothing. To bed. 16 July, contd. Maclin, Oax vicinity Up ~ 8:30 after poor nights sleep that saw the first tornado yet. Caught up on notes in the sun of what might be a fine day. Intertial trouble did not last long. John picked herps, then a late breakfast. Drove down the breekin 60
