D.O. Straney 1977 61. 11 July, contd. where everyone but me looked for theories finding many. I wapped. then down aways towards 150 & an area of tall oaks w/ lg bromelias to look for Albonia. Many bromeliads looked in but nothing. Ran into woodcutters who claimed they found them in moss on tree sides when it was this wet, but Sr. Grea wouldn't believe it. A few moments later they caught up with us having found one. We looked more, finally finding one in a bromeliad. On returning to the car, the cutters were there w/ yet another moss living specimens. then back to Coatlapan, arriving ~ 4:45 PM. Several boys had been up to a cave near town & brought back 4 (#260-263). Set up to go to caves w/them tomorrow AM - 20 pesos for the bats. then an early dinner at Miguel's and out to the river again for bats. Finally decided to hang a net from the bridge as I had done last fall near Las Vegas. Used bromeliad-cutter poles. This would have worked well if we could have cleaned the vegetation off of the sides of the bridge. Dark by time we got there & net up ~ 1 hr later at 8:45. Got 1st & only bat ~9:30 in lowest tranmel. Net down at 11 PM. Saw other bats flying (3-4) but seemed
