D.O. Straney 1977 60. 10 July, contd. After dark, Sr. Ceron led us to the river to look for a place to set. Most of the river is set in a fairly deep cut and outside of town is very wide & deep. Looked at several places nearer town, but none looked too good as there was much high grass surrounding the narrower stream channel. Finally decided that a look in the AM was called for & quit for the night w/ no net set. Sat up for a short while talking then to bed early. 11 July Coatlapan, Var. Vicinity Up at 7AM, awakened by Daniel instead of the alarm clock which was his belief - a time change somewhere. Breakfast supplied by Sr. Ceron. Then off up old 150 to San Bernardino, Pueblo (see John's notes for directions) & Salamander collecting in cloud shrouded, rainy pine/oak/grass/rhododendron forest. Many Thorius under logs & several brightly colored Sceloporus. Appeared to be some gopher activity in cleared areas grown back to grass. Then on down a few miles to a drier area in the rain shadow of the sierran front (California-like) for lunch (via Ceron) & a look for snakes which we didn't find (2 Sceloporus, tho). Then back down 150 to Puerto del Aire, Pueblo
