J.D. Strenney 1977 57. 7 July cont'd and for food. Then (*8) drove the rd to ferice w/out finding anything (~5 mi up & bk). Back to motel to process by 10 PM. 8 July Banderilla, Ver. to Coatepec, Ver. Up 7:30 and then gas, breakfast & disconnected the bromeliad cutter. Went (9:00) to check Viaduct for bats - none there this Au. Viaduct is 3.5 mi N Rte 140 in Banderilla, along rd to Misatla. then look back to Las Vegas to check in w/ the boy Rere who said he would catch us snakes. No show. So ~ 10:45 on to Jalapa for check casting & postcard to done. Much hassle in city - finally done ~ 12:30, then out to Teocelo gorge, 1.9 mi NW Teocelo, Ver. (by rd). Spent afternoon looking here for herps but found only one shrub - not the 4 sp. of salamanders Sembad. The area is planted in coffee (sparsely) & banana with steep slopes & rocks (4?) in abundance. Up to Teocelo for Cokes for lunch then (3:30) more collecting. Broke ~ 4:30 & drove out past Teocelo but the area is all planted to coffee, bananas or villages. Back to Coatepec where we got a cheapo motel. Then returned to gorge for netting. Nets up ~ 7:15, dark ~ 7 PM. Immediate big rush of Carollia & Stura at upmost net lasting ~ 1/2 hr. Then drilled. Got 1st Desmodus & Anoura ~ 9:30-9:45. Nets
