2 July cold
upon a leading ridge in front of the Sierra Madre.
A smallish, friendly town. Walked up rd. to Rancho
Cielo always finding 2 types of millipedes, sulfur,
Zebra butterflies & at least 3 pretty forms neither
of us knew -- Many birds. 5 min rain ~4pm.
Back to town for dinner at cafe' No1 Square.
Back down to W valley towards Rancho Cielo
to set bat nets on lg trail to house (gigs/chickens)
on R just up hill for 2nd (9 weders in canyon.
Talked w/ women at house who said livestock
were bothered by bats. Set nets:

Gomez Farias ~ 3/4 mile
N-most net got moat bats. Nets up by 9:10 - 1st bat
(Artibeus) at 9:15, then Dermodicus -> ~9:30.
then 1 more Artibeus between them & 10:15. Between
10:15 & 10:30 - got rest. -> Dermodicus not fed.
Myotis came in ~11pm. Nets down 11:15pm then back
to gravel pit below town for camp. Muzzy night.
3 July
Gomez Farias area
up 7am after dog barked for ~45min after
sunrise. Down to St Maute, after talking w/
men living behind gravel pit. Apparently pit vipers
occur here. He was amused that we did not
