but could not get them to accept John's
coroner ship, Back to Sanborns for
notarized affidavit and back again - some
hastles, but finally proceeded to inspection.
Much trouble over LN tank - needed "permits"
from MEXICO City or something like that.
Much talking - then took us to customs
office in N. Laredo where they couldn't help,
then back to boarder & more talk. All very
cooperative but they didn't know what to do.
John finally got thru it - they never looked
at anything else, then drove out 85 to
Monterrey, leaving about 3:30. Arrived
monterrey ~6:30-7 after a long drive thru
flat lands (mesquite gradually dropping out)
and up onto the plateau the city is on. Much
driving around monterrey looking for a place
to stay but cheap ones all full. Hit bad
traffic in town. Decided to go up to chippingue
motel on mesa SW of town. A little expensive
and plush but nice & cool with fine view of
city. Very nice forested mountains. Dinner of
beer and then to bed.
