D.O. [illegible] 1977 39. 26 March 1.5 mi NW Bear Valley by Hwy 49 - set 120 traps in almost pure chernise with some manganita. John got 2 Euneces, 1 Sceloporus and one juv. Pitupulus under rocks. 2.9 mi NW Bear Valley by Hwy 49 set 60 traps along a ridge above an old mine. Sparse chaparral with much rock and junk. John found one Euneces. then across the merced and up the N slope to 8.4 mi NW Bear Valley by Hwy 49 at 1716 ft (Benchmark). Set 60 traps as the sun went down in rather dense chernise and manganita. Some pines. Back at Yosemite by 9 PM for dinner - very cold. To bed by 11 PM. 27 March Up at 6:30 AM for breakfast and then the long run back to the traps. We got: 1.5 mi NW Bear Valley 4 P. tuei 1 P. boylei? { allozyme say 3 P. tuei 2 P. boylei } 1 Taricha under a rock. 2.9 mi NW Bear Valley 1 P. tuei 2 P. manucalatus (2 { } juv. in same trap). 8.4 mi NW Bear Valley 1 P. manucalatus 1 Euneces.
