D.O. Stanley 1976 27. 15 Sept. (contd.) on the volans, just how poor the key character was. [Mike did mention that when John Simmons was down ~3-4 weeks ago, the Loganale Tadarida colony was at full strength, so apparently it has closed up. All that we collected appear to be young of the year,] Left Mike at SR-39 at 11PM and drove up to Hilltop Camp Ground in Kyle canyon to sleep. Was very windy and very cold so decided to go back and sleep in the desert. This would be a very nice summer campground. On the way down the car began acting up - would not accept gas on acceleration, and spattered violently. Pulling off, we spent ~1.5 hrs searching w/ pen for the cause. It was not a blocked exhaust pipe and we decided it must be the carborator. Sacked out on the side of the road for a very uncomfortable night.
