D.O.Straney 1976 19 July Canyon, on the same road to North Myrtle Beach lower in elevation. It had rained earlier and was lightning all night. Finally to bed by 1:30pm Am. 20 July No bats captured, but several moths that Carla says were Cercropia (I did not see them). Left at ~10:30 AM, after giving Carla a rundown of possible collecting localities. They will spend a week there collecting - Tadaridas and Molossids for Carla, everything else for me. 22 July Arrived at Port Charlotte, Fla at 3 AM this morning - 3135 mi from Berkeley in 63.5 hrs. We are staying with Sam's parents for a few days of recovery and collecting. Probably will collect few bats but some herps. That was one long drive. 23 July Drove to Sanibel and Captiva Islands off of Ft. Myers to look for beached killer whales that were on the news yesterday. Did not see the whales which we were told had been taken away. Saw many shorebirds that we could not identify. Brown pelicans in abundance. We watched the
