July
Carla Markman, her friend Seth, Dick Sego
and I drove from Berkeley to Ashti
and the Italian Swiss Colony winery
and where Phil Leitner had told Carla
would be good for Tadarida. We arrived
at 8 pm and as there was still light, went
up the road a ways to a nice restaurant.
Nets were up at 8:45 pm. The bats were
roosting in the N 1/2 of the barn only
but most exited from the large doors
in the middle, rather than from a large bay
door in the upper level of the barn near the
roof which opened to a tree. Nets were
placed over the doors with nets and
bats entered almost immediately.
