D.O. Straney 1976 3. June contd. went to Douglas for a shower and a motel room before the 18 hr. drive back to Berkeley via Tucson (2hr stop at the Desert museum), Phoenix and Flagler. Ashti, Sonoma Co., Calif. July Carla Markman, her friend Seth, Dick Sego and I drove from Berkeley to Ashti and the Italian Swiss Colony winery and where Phil Leitner had told Carla would be good for Tadarida. We arrived at 8 pm and as there was still light, went up the road a ways to a nice restaurant. Nets were up at 8:45 pm. The bats were roosting in the N 1/2 of the barn only but most exited from the large doors in the middle, rather than from a large bay door in the upper level of the barn near the roof which opened to a tree. Nets were placed over the doors with nets and bats entered almost immediately.
