1986 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Blomone HNHR 19 January *Group Update* j1165. NSAB (banded 3 Aug). j1166. " j1167. " j1168. " A bad brood here: only 1 of 5 made it at all. j968. Philip saw this bird (but failed to sex it) on 31 Jan 1985, [illegible] most likely gone by 24 April (Missy) -> DA 12 March ± 1 month. 5 April *Group Update* $830. This bird was presumably seen by Philip on 30 Apr Jan 1985, and gone by 16 April. DA -> 8 March ± 1 month. (Katy) $965. Last seen 20 Oct., gone by 11 Nov. -> DA 31 Oct ± 1 wk $1169. Same. 15 April 700. Caught 4 birds in an ambush this morning: $809, $812, j$1169, and j$1167 (the bands of the latter 2 were messed up, thus probably explaining why they had been deleted from the field list). I kept $812. Unfortunately, by the time I released $809 at 645 there was already a minor power struggle erupting, which I'm now back watching at 845. $832?? I don't think so? 845. Some drumming, garricks, etc. (1) $B1E-BPK(w)/M with (3) $809. In granary. (3) $ Or/B1K #492. (1) $ B1E-BPK(w)/M #832 An $ub & looking further. There are ~ 4 + birds on the periphery as well. (6) B1K-EP(w)/L#1169. There are at least 2 intruders here, but probably not more than 3.
