1988 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes fomiticivorus Keep Out H.N.H.R 6 February 730. Ambushes in 2 holes in the LiveOak yielded only 2 birds, 81127 and 81219. Maybe next time. 5 March Ambushed here tonight while Nick Davies was here and got lucky - one bird - the unbanded 9, now 91466 12 March *Group update* 8706. Last seen 30 Nov. (Connie), gone by 28 Jan -> D.A. 29 Dec?In 81383. Last seen 20 Oct (MTS), gone by 8 Nov. (CHA) -> D.A. 28 Oct ± 1 wk. 95282. Last seen 25 Aug, not seen by Stanback on 10 Oct. The records, however, have this bird showing up on 1 Aug. '87. Consequently, for lack of more definitive information, I'm going to simply kill her off entirely and assume she never was really part of the group. 27 May 1850. Rushed back up here after Stanback told me about the babies here and banded / 6 led them (all 3) 16 June Smellish power struggle here on 29 March (MTS). Old 99 gone, including the 1 I caught! *Group update* 8739. Last seen 28 Jan, presumably disappeared shortly before the 29 March power struggle, say 15 March. -> D.A. 25 March. 81381, 91466. Both now gone. Presumably these 99 all disappeared in March; again we'll say 15 March. 81016. Last seen 26 Feb, gone by 16 June -> D.A. 23 Apr. ± 1 M. 81219, 1221, 1127, 8 & 1382. Became freedent ~29 March. There are 2 new ub 99 here also.
