12 March *Group Update*
6639. Last seen 16 Nov. 1986! [illegible] This bird
apparently returned, but just for a short time.
We'll let him Disappear ~ 16 Dec. 1986 ± 1 month.
2 April 1700. Wandered around, finding nothing of note save a fair
number of acorns and a (new?) hole just below where the
limb broke in the Black Oak 2 years ago. None in it, but
it's still about the only hole around that I've been able
to find.
26 April 1600. Watched for sometime here, finding birds and some
favorite trees, but uncovering no leads for possible nests.
10 May 1345. Watching. ①♂ DB-wh(n) / Red #736.
1400. ②♀ DB/Wh-DB ? 1212 Seen very well, and
③♀ Yellow/Orange #1039 (? probably).
*The ♀ is surely ♀1212 from Black Oak *
④♂ub. ⑤♂m,
12 May 605. Came to look for a nest only to find *Power Struggle* activity!
Now watching from blind.
610. Here's ①♀DB/Wh-DB #1212 from Black Oak. Several other banded
♀♀ here also. ②♂ R-LP/m #1039. ③♀ m/
Red/DB-wh(n) 1410? Legs switched?
There are about 10 birds here. ④♀ DB-wh(n)/Dareen #1211 (Black Oak)
⑤♂ M/DB-wh(n)#736. Definitely a ♀ vacancy. Great! Looks
like it will get filled by banded ♀♀ (from Black Oak!).
⑥♀ M/ B-W(n) #1410. A subordinate - got pecked by ♀1211 (I think)
Meanwhile, ♂736 is on top of the granary drumming!
650. Already, except for an occasional chase, There are only
5-6 birds here (The 2 ♂♂ and 3-4 Black Oak ♀♀).
