Melanerpes formicivorus
Warp 5
26 March 730. Ambushed this morning at the Black Oak, catching
2 birds, both ♀♀ and both unbandeD, who are now #1467-68.
One, after I let her go and while I was up in The
Tree waiting for the other, flew all the way over to a tree
on the other side of Martin Road, on the side of
School Hill, where she appeared to meet a 3rd bird.
In any case, there is a group here! And they don't
seem to be directly related to Wolfpack.
Jane saw an u6♂ in the granary area while I was
waiting for the 2nd ♀.
25 April 1430. Looked around for a nest here, but saw none in any
holes. I think there's still a group here, but I'm not
sure.
11 May 1000. Watching from blind. There are birds and at least
a few stores here.
1010. No problem! ♀ looking out of the ambush hole in The
Black oak. Looks like they're incubating over there.
3 June 430. Ambushed at the nest, where there are 20 day-old
babies, catching only a ♀! Could be a first!
Furthermore, she had begun her molt!
15 June *Group Update*
This group was probably founded in August 1987, when Mark
heard birds here. We'll assume there are 3 here (2♀♀ and 1♂),
even though we don't really know what up with the 8(8).
