1988 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus 3 Nurf HNHR 9 April Judy did the early watch. It's now 920 and I'm watching until 1200. 1008. Both ♀♀ finally came: ♀ BIK-WN/DK#1144 and a 2nd, presumably ♀1143. 1115. I'm not so sure: she looks ♀ ca-da/M? to me. Is this ♀1143 or someone else? I think it's someone else. * 1125. 8967 was here, a few branches away from the hole. 1130. ♀ wn/ : I Think she may be ♀ ca-da/(missing?) This is definitely not ♀1143, [Yes] 1200, Jane taking over, then Judy again to dusk. 1211. This time she looked ♀ ca-da/M. 10 April 1215. Taking over from Morgan. Nothing has happened yet, apparently. 1300. The mystery ♀ is missing a band on her left leg: ♀ ca-da . She also definitely has a M band on her right leg (but I'm not sure where or with what 3rd band). I'm going to "switch" ♀911 for ♀1143, who apparently was never here. Are 911 and 1144 unrelated? Apparently yes. 1445. This time I got it for sure: ♀ ca-da/M#911 1500. Jane K. doing the final watch. Mark is presumably coming over to weigh the babies. The mystery bird is almost certainly ♀911, a 1983 nestling from Blomtreee. Very strange! 12 April Mark reports having seen 8967 feeding at the nest! Whoopee! 26 May 1510. Set up at the 2nd nest, which I've just checked and where there are 8 eggs, to catch one of the ♀♀. 1730. I give up. ! Just as I said that, ♂1338 went in, so I guess I'll leave it and set an ambush at nesthole #1.
