1988 Welter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Knell Set HNHR 16 January *Group update* This group assumed to have been founded ~2 Aug. '87. $1350 made one of the founders. 28 January 2000. Ambushing at the Gate Field ravine hole (opened Y nest-hole on side of School Hill) we caught 6 birds This evening, including $1303, $1301, $1350, one of the other bandet $$$, and 2 unbanded $$$, now $1460 & 1461. That should pretty well take care of the group, I would hope! 30 January *Group update* Add the 2 ub $$$, now #1460 and 1461. We will assume that they have also been here since August (as ub), but it's entirely possible that they got added later on (although at least one was there in November). 12 March Connie says, maybe an ub $ here!? 20 April 1030. Opened new hole in Sycamore: in good shape, but empty. 1 May 1030. Bird in hole (?) in dead trunk? 1145. Oui! 9 eggs! (The one I marked #9 has a small dent in it; all are fresh.) 5 May 1530. Well! Something neat happened here but we don't know what. It seemed strange that I wouldn't see a bird in the hole here when I'd pass. I finally checked it and there are only 4 eggs left, cold and, presumably, abandoned. (The dented #9 was not one of them.) 9 May $1461 up on School Hill; see School Hill notes. 13 June *Group Update* $1444. Last seen @ [illegible] by Connie on 11 Nov. '87, [illegible].
