1987 Ronald L. Grinell 2 Balanophyra formicivora Hastings Reservation (6 Aug) a complete turnover of the Arnold I birds. ② A larger group of males from UA2 has taken over the A1 granary. This included (minimally) ①1140, ①1222, ①1225, and ①1027. All 4 of these birds were seen well and repeatedly in the A1 granary, waking, chasing intruders, etc. Three other UA2 birds were also seen briefly, This could have been Juv.1402 of A1 * ①1340 Blk-Whit(n)/M, ①102b Lgreen/LPink, and Juvenile (①?) 1380 M /Blk-Lpink/Black /Red-DBlue. ③ With the UA2 a group of 3 ② from Keep Out: ②1220, ②1330, ②1332. All 3 seen well and repeatedly in the A1 granary. ④ ①100 (sob!) appears to be gone. No sign of him at A1 or anywhere in the vicinity. ②505 wht/CPak however, still lives. She was hanging out well North of the A1 granary (downhill side of Big Tree) with Juv 1402 DBlue-Manue /Black Blk-Whit(n)/M. No evidence of any other A1 birds around, although a ① without bands was hanging out with ②505 and J1402. Apparently, ②505 was evicted by the AO ② after the death of ①100 and the ensuing power struggle. No idea what has become of ②568 + 1319 and Juvs. 1400 +1401.
