8 April
Netted in the morning, catching and removing ♂521 for
an experimental "control". He went into the aviary
by 1200.
11 April
930. Well, sooner than I'd hoped, but they laid an egg
this morning in the nest hole in the 2° tree. Mark removed
it and, after marking the head of ♂521, I released him.
The idea is to observe his behavior with the nest,
which will (hopefully) now "begin" tomorrow morning.
12 April
604. Watching. None in hole.
640. ♀973 in hole. Followed by (1st) ♂721 and (2nd) by
♂723. ♂721 is particularly attentive.
645. ♂721 in hole, leaves. Then ♀ leaves, followed by
♂723, who was also in the hole. Presumably an egg now!
Q: Is ♂723
a breeder?
