Melanerpes formicivorus
Finch
HNHR
21 February 1600. Counted stores: Main Tree: 307 7 590.
Sycamore+: 283 7 590.
Lots of empty space. It would seem likely that I've long
missed the peak at this territory; 600 acorns is not a very
many for this group.

645. Ambushed the 1985 nest hole, catching 863 and 9986.
We therefore removed 863 and put him in the aviary,
as the 1st of the 8 removal experiments for the year.
Katy watched immediately afterwards to check and make
sure everything was OK.

Saw birds in a new hole in the sycamore this afternoon,
so I came out and opened it: nothing yet, but it was
in good shape.

Now watching until dusk.

yet, though.

falling to the ground, between 863 getting attacked
