March 18/02 This
afternoon about sunset
as I sat writing, I
was deluged by a
chorus of Zonostrictica
songs- (Z. l. intermedia)
in the back yard.
It
was a cloudy, chilly
evening but the
plaintive notes even
given with a vim-
A quaint little song
it is and I could
scarcely feel that I
was not on one
of the high Sierran
meadows, where the
lovely song of
Z. leucophrys flavirostris
