427 the tree had not dimunished at all but I was fresh and easily made the climbs. No bird flew and I was distrustful but concluded later that she never returned after being scared off at night on 24th. I nearer was in the top of the tree and placed so that I could only see into it by pulling myself up on a level with it by my hands. It was 4 feet across, evidently an old nest for many use, composed as usual of sticks and lined with grass.
