Took gun and went
up road and down the
canyon. Dick Bill
Pumpkins common and
in full song but
too wary to shoot. I shot
a dove, which was
in the young, spread
plumage. Saw a Hermit
Warbler at very close
range but could not
follow it to its nest.
We found a Dove's
nest & it up in crotch of
kind of black oak. [illegible]
