Philippi 2/1888. similar to 1 but with lvs. 1-2.5 cm.; pedicels more ascending and 1-1.5 cm. long. siliques 2-2.5 cm. long & not quite so broad; style 1 mm. long 3 morong 1129 is not the same as either 1 or 2. 4 Werdermann 422 is the same dep. Copiapo, quebrada Cauchas, 2000 m. 12.1924 as 1 i.e. the meaner plant with annulate lvs - see under M. incana. 5 Bridges 1280 from Concepcion is the same as 3 Mathewsia foliosa Valparaiso, Bridges 1 leaves densely pubescent with minute trichomes but not whitish; old leaves persisting and rolled + curled; current leaves numerous, with with small auricles at base 3-6 cm. long bases even overlapping, pinnately lobed; stems branched, densely pubescent; pedicels pubescent, straight, 8-12 mm. long; siliques glabrous with a central prominent nerve full length; 1-2.3 cm. long, 3-6 mm. wide; proportionately longer and not so broad as illustrations; style barely evident, stigmas scarcely expanded.
