1982 Walford D. Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Canyon Vista Hastings Reservation 30 September This group, apparently consisting of an ub pair, are in the canyon up above Dark Hollow on Blonquist. They've been working on a nice roost/next hole but have no granary that we know of. Today at 835 a bird was in the tree with the hole. For prior information on this group (which has been around at least since late August) see Blontwo notes. 19 October 845. Today I flushed a pair of birds from the tree with the hole; the first (a ♀ I think) was indeed banded: Gel-or-Yel Light . No noises are coming from the hole, however. 858. With a second look I find an ub ♀ here, so either there are 2 ♀♀ or the ♂ is the one who's banded. (Alternatively, this bird may be an intruder from Blontwo, where she seems to have just flown off to.) 16 November 1625. No wickers here in passing, but there is a Lewis' Woodpecker up in the tree! 23 November 1015. Again, no wickers in the roost tree, although I do hear a couple up on the adjacent knoll.
