(24 May) and found a nice new hole in the back Valley Oak, but no
immediate sign that it was being used.
27 May Mark found the new nest here today; apparently they're
incubating.
3 June 1600. Stanback opened the new nest here: 9 eggs, 1 of which is
½ caved in and dried up.
9 June Tried to net here this morning with no success, but
the nest is still going.
13 June 500. Underneath the nest are eggshells and 1 dead baby (wt 18g)
So I'd guess they hatched several days ago.
15 June 1700. Put up a net for awhile this morning but didn't catch
anyone. Worse than that, I don't think anyone ever
came to the hole or that a bird was in it to begin
with. Hence, I greatly suspect that the nest here
has failed.
28 June We banded the 2 babies here as #1116, 1117.
21 August Stanback reports a few acorns still here.
