1985 Walfert Kocine Melanerpes formicivorus SOBO HNHR (1 May) bitch to get to (it's way up in a Valley Dale) but it's obviously there. No sounds heard when the bird flushed, so they probably still have eggs. I just hope I can find it again when I come to open it! 4 May 1000. Opened the hole: 3 babies, ~9 do (eyes not quite opened yet). 22 May 1500. Banded the 3 babies as #1037-1039. They are just about ready to go! (1037) (1038) (1039) 86.8 (93) 86.5 (93) 89.1 (94) 20 July Passed by here looking for a 2nd nest with no success. However, I did note that they have no acorns remaining in the granary. 21 August Stanback reports a "very few acorns stored here". I suspect that means none.
