1985 Walter D Koenig 3 Melanerpes formicivorus Black Oak HNHR 26 June Mark climbed the 2nd nest here (in central area- old hole) and found 7 eggs, including 1 raunt. 21 July Set up 2 ambushes. They do have stored acorns remaining here. 12 July Banded the 3 babies and caught 1 bird (♂1009) in an ambush. 1 November 700. Caught 4 babies from the 1st brood in an ambush at the nest hole. As usual, the adults were very wary and would not go in the hole (or any other I know about) one I set up ambushes. 19 December 1030. Watching from blind. 1100. (1)♂ Dk/Or #1005. 1135. (2)♀ub. (3) 2nd ♀ ub. 1155. (4)? yel/Maure #1009. 1235. (5)♂ blk/or #426. Leaving. Birds are spending time high up, especially over toward Bianca.
