My, This is extraordinary - these birds have a nest with young babies also, up in the granary! 1120. 36 babies, a day or 2 older than School Hill's... 16 September 1010. Watching the hole with an ambush set up for the ♀. 1235. Leaving. The birds are in the vicinity but apparently don't believe in feeding their young. Boone has even been in the nest tree since I arrived. 17 September 730. Here again, still waiting for a bird to go into the nest tree. 830. Leaving. Looks like I'm going to have to face up to the (apparent) fact that these birds simply aren't going to come to the nest while I'm around. 23 September 645. Trying again; all set up to get The ♀. 745. Leaving; will come back with a hide. 1015. Back again; in hide. 1200. Leaving. They really don't feed here. 29 September 930. Waiting for the ♀ again. 1050. ♂BP-LP/BP-LP #530 here along with a 2nd bird. 1107. Both #530 and ♂ub just fed, but the babies are at the hole entrance. and an 1110. Took the 2 babies out and [illegible] them as #974 & 975 while waiting for one more feeding. I take that back - I left all the banding gear at the labs so I'm not banding them yet. 1230. Leaving, but letting the trap stay up for an ambush. At dusk, nobody roosted in the nest after I scared out one bird. 30 September 715. Watching from hide. 745. ♀ fed at entrance. 755. Babies removed and banded as #974 & 975.
