Koenig Melanerpes fomiticivorus Finch HNNHR 8 November At long last a successful ambush here - 3 birds, inc. 863, 8613, and the u6♀ (now 9986) in a hole in the Sycamore (unopened). The 4th bird had roosted elsewhere. 1985 1 February 1320. Counted stores: Valley Oak: 775 } Sycamore: 1010 } 1868. Aux. Syc. 83 ) Doing well. The sycamore is especially full. 2 March Mark Stanback watched here yesterday and saw (probably) 8613 and 9986, along with a 3rd "mystery bird". 3 March 1515. Watching for the mystery bird. 1524. ①♂B-or/②B #542, in the granary 1535. ②♀ ret-DB/M #613 here now. 1540. ③♀ Dareem/ret. #986. 1545. Leaving, No sign of 863 - definitely a tragedy if he's gone! 28 April 1145. Nest in low hole in sycamore: 3 eggs, not reel fresh. 5 May 1615. 3 babies, O-1 do. 11 May Was watched here for Control Day#1. She did not have a blind; The 863 was unaffected, but the ♀ may have been freaked out. Starting tomorrow we will use a blind here. After the watch I added 2 babies from R1 to make a grand total of 5 here. Exp.days Control Day#3 12,13,14 May Was watched on 12, 14 May, Missy on 13 May (all with a blind). Only 1 baby was returned on 14 May, as the 3rd died in the predation event at R1.
