1984 1985 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Pipeline HNHR 8 September 730. At least 1 bird was in the granary here when I drove by this morning. 12 November Still no stores here, but there are 2 birds hanging out here on a reasonably frequent basis. Phillip saw them both a few days ago (they came to the tape) and they were unbandet, bren sir. Tonight both were in the rest hole about 1600, but nobody roosted there. 8 December Philip has recorded the 2 birds here a couple of times, but there are still no stores here and room appears to be roosting here. Thus, I'm not sure we can reasonably say there's a group here, at least yet. 1985 1 February 1320. I could only find what could be a single good-looking stored acorn here, so unless the birds just aren't trying, I'd have to conclude that this territory is currently abandoned. 5 May So far there's been no sign of anyone being here all spring. 6 May 715. A bird up in the granary when I drive by. No stores here, however. 724. 2 ub &? here! However, they may not be friends. 735. Leaving. Something could be going on here after all; it should be checked, in any case. 15 May 805. Watching. 830. No sign of life here. 2 July Birds have been here off and on; Mark saw a Warp 5 baby here at least once, suggesting that they are the ones hanging out. But he also saw an ub baby here on one occasion! No good evidence this is a territory
