Melanerpes famicularus
Corral Viejo
(10 April)
1130. 8966, 967 still here. The 3 ♀♀ are still here: 9960, 9990, and
ub♀ as well.
1150. An occasional intruder, but these 5 birds (the Blontwo 5)
clearly have it all pretty well wrapped up. I'm going to
leave the nets up and check back later.
21 April
**Group Update**
CV#2 {
9960 (+ presumably 2 sisters, both ub) moved to
Blontwo on 15 March 1985.
}
CV#1 {
All birds apparently gone by 10 April; this group
hasn't been watched carefully and we don't really
know what's up or what happened to allow all
the Blontwo birds to take over on 10 April.
}
2 May
1600. At CV Verande, they now have 7 eggs - pretty good
evidence of 2 ♀♀. It also means that FED here (-egg
tossing) was ~21 April, they should hatch ~5 May, and
be banded ~30 May.
13 May
1900. Found OKCorral's nest - it's high! Babies have
hatched and are pretty young still.
15 May
See Gazebo notes re 9942 from CV Verande who has
moved to Gazebo, joining 9718.
20 May
Banded the 3 babies at OKCorral who are virtually
ready to fledge (one tried to, not quite successfully).
24 May
Went to check CV#2's nest: 2 mummified babies ~
7 do, say, when they died. (Philip reported eggs here earlier).
Obviously a new nest will be forthcoming here...
June
1715. 2 birds in one of the old holes at CV#2. No sounds
when they flushed so I presume they have eggs.
