4 April Well! I came here this afternoon with Wes Weathers & Missy
and set up some nets, then tried the Power Struggle tape with
a mount (bad one!). They were there immediately, all 5
of them: 8966, 8967 from Blomone and 3♀♀ - 2 ub and
♀960 (incorrectly listed as a ♀) from CV#2. Neat! So
it would appear we have 2 brothers (known) and 3
breeding ♀♀ here, the latter from CV#2.
The tape worked well - at least to bring them in - and
Wes gave me some ideas that may improve things more.
We eventually caught one of the ub♀♀, who is now
♀990, so there is now only 1 ub♀ here, at least.
We also saw 8832 come by briefly from Blomone to
check things out.
I returned as dusk. All are still there as they have
been for several evenings. But I don't think they're
roosting together, even though they go through ~5-10min
worth of pre-roost mounting beforehand. This evening
2 birds at least appeared to fly off toward Blomone to
roost while 21 also headed toward Blountwo - almost
as if everyone's still heading home to roost.
7 April 1530. Nets up; speaker and mount in tree.
1535. 8966 here; also [illegible] ♀960; intruders
brought right away by the tape as usual.
1600. Not as much commotion as previously. Also not as many
birds. Missy saw 8967 but neither 8990 nor the ub♀ have
been seen for sure. from CVVerande
1600. Intruder: ♀ W/nm 941; also ♀ub apparently here
