(6 June) hence, Moved here somewhere between 1 Feb
and ~15 April → 7 March ± 1 month. Note that
this bird is [illegible] a sibling of 8808 & 8809 and had
been seen here before. This is also the group where
one of the 88 had "recruited" the other to win the
Power Struggle back in April '83; now a 3rd sib has
joined them — almost 2 years later!
17 June Well, the 5 June hole was abandoned after we opened it,
if not before (apparently after, since birds were in it up to then).
Today Mark found what may be a new nest hole in the
granary. He opened it, and it is currently empty.
2 July See Mark's notes for details here. The granary
hole eventually had 1 egg laid on the 20th (Mark also
saw tossing on the 19th; on the 29th a 2nd egg
was in the hole (the 1st was gone). In between
they showed little interest in the hole and apparently
abandoned it again. We have pretty much
given up getting tossing here, but will try to locate
and watch the 2nd nest if they ever get into it.
~21 August Stanback reports that lots of acorns remain here.
