15 May 1045. Weighed the babies.
17 May 1630. Injected the babies for DLW; weighed them at 1630,
injections completed by 1638.
18 May 1730. Weighed and bled the babies.
19 May 1740. And again...
28 May Missy watched here 800-1100, after which I added
two additional babies from Plague Annex. Day was foggy in AM.
29 May Missy watched on a nicer day (clear, but still cool), after
which I returned the 2 babies to Plague Annex.
1 June Last watch day (Control Day #5). Afterwards I
banded the babies as #1093-1095
27 June 940. Watching. There are 3 eggs in the hole, 2 by 8193 and
1 from 8787(?)
1050. By now 4 birds - 8193, 8985, 8770, and 8771, have been
in the hole. 8985 was in the longest (mostly while 8771 sat
outside the hole); nobody tossed, however. Right when
8985 finally left, 8771 climbed out of the hole and went
over to 8774 who had just landed nearby and pecked
8771>8774 him, then jumped on his back and pecked him again.
Otherwise, 8771 is clearly guarding 8785, 8770: 8193.
I didn't see 8787 at all.
1100. Climbed up and checked the hole: still 3 eggs. If
anyone tosses, it will have to be 8787 (or 8774!).
2 July Mark has been watching here every morning. There
are now 8 eggs, with all 3 8's contributing (and
with tossing too, but we were unable to pin down
much on that score). See Mark's notes for details.
