(1 May) All this continued until I left at 920; clearly incubation is in full swing - the eggs are warm and the birds are in the hole pretty regularly.
2 May No eggs laid today. I did at incubation watch from 700-1015. Everybody incubated except for 787, who came too late (her harness is loose on her back, but the transmitter is still on) and did not enter - on 1 occasion it really seemed as though the 88 kept her out (she came to hole, both 88 showed up immediately with 871 pecking aggressively at her while she chattered).
For the watch itself, see transcribed notes & computer output.
3 May Missy did an incubation watch here today. I did one 4 May.
5 May hetting 8774 go! Weight: 83.8gm. Time 625.
Missy watched immediately afterwards (mainly the hole). He (8774) was around, but did not show up at the nest.
The remainder of the experiment here consists of doing some more nest watches, both incubation and brooding, to see what, if anything, 8774 does.
6 May 1230. Checked the nest: 6 eggs! eggs #2 and 6 are gone, while egg #5 is not developing.
11 May 1907. After a 90 min watch I checked the nest: 2 babies hatched, 2 more to come!
12 May 1230. Checked nest: 4 babies, weighed, etc.
13 May 1420-1720. Nest watched. Weighed babies at 1730 (only 3 - most likely all 785's, are left).
