Melanerpes formicivorus
1800
(28 April)
700. 9787 in. This could be it!
707. ♀ (785), followed by ♂, left. Other ♀ looking out. [If 1 ♀ didn't
lay, it was probably 9193.]
725. Last ♀ out [9787]; ♀193 in briefly (with 8770), left w/o tossing.
730. Nest check. 3 eggs: #1 (from yesterday) plus ⓐ 24.2×18.6
and ⓑ 25.6×20.1. The guess that these are 9785's & 9787's
seems reasonable. If so, each ♀ now has 1 egg. Watching
to see each go in once.
800. The Calabroid Squirrel That's in the granary constantly
just successfully nabbed a juicy Live Oak acorn from the main
storage limb despite the woodpecker harassment.
815. 9193 (and 8770) in; no tossing.
850. 9193 in again for some time
930. Nest check: still the 3 eggs. Missy watching for awhile.
29 April!
635. Watching. None in hole: nest check: still 3 eggs (#2 seen)
645. Watching.
657. 9785, Then 9193 enter. Both ♂♀ at hole trying to look
in; ♂771 pecks ♂770. ♂770 leaves, ♂771 still at hole.
740. Everyone's been gone for awhile. Nest check time:
4 eggs, only! #4: 24.4×20.0. Based on timing, if nothing
else, I'd give this to 9785; it was not laid by 9787.
810. 9193 in briefly (<1 min). 814. 9193 in again for 6 min; When
♂770 entered she left.
830. 9787 in'. 9193 follows briefly; ♂770 also. All leave except
9787.
855. 9193 in, 1 bird out right away. They could have switched.
900. 8770 in, ♀ + ♂ out. Nest check! 5 eggs - 5th
