1984 1985 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes fomivicivorus Y HNHR 11 September 1100. Yes, Y has a nest also, in the spring hole in the large Sycamore down from the Y. They have 3 babies, much older than the others so far: ① Maww ② DP ③ ~Day 12 band 23 Sept. 48.3 (24) 64.0 (28) 54.9 (31) This is (nest #4 for the fall) thus far! 23 September 1400. Banded the 3 babies: #969: 92.6 (86) #970: 81.1 (92) #971: 79.5 (89) [illegible] 18 October 950. ♂ 5th-DB/M #754 in front of the barn. A baby here also. Two babies here: 1 is ② DB-wmly, i.e. # ③ ♀ LB-wmld #675 seen also. And ④ ♂ Red-DB #669. 27 October 1100. j971 seen up in front of the barn along with an adult ♂. 1650. j970 " 30 October 1515. j971 in front of barn. 8 December The locust granary in front of the L Barn is fading fast. It will probably still be useable this year but not much longer. 1985 30 March 1730. Saw all 3 breeders while showing Missy & Ves around: 8669, 8754, and 9675. 31 March 1000. Several birds in the Y tel pole: 8669, 9675, 2nd ♂, probably 8754 (but not seen well). Some mounting seen among these 3. Back in front of the L Barn: ♂ Blk-Or/Blk #970. 1020. 8754 (probably) flew to the small Live Oak by the Tel. pole and got an acorn! Then stored it in the locust in back of the barn (with the nestbox on it).
