1985 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Plague Annex HNHR 27 May We have an official group here, founded ~10 April (a guess), consisting of 8723 and 8983 from Plague plus 9818, formerly of 1500. 28 May Stanback watched 800-1100, after which I transferred 2 of the babies to 1800 29 May Stanback watched 745-1045, after which I returned the 2 babies from 1800. 31 May Today, with 6 babies here, the weather was cool, overcast, with some slight drizzle at the end up to ~900. 1 June Last day of the watches. Weather was still cool but clear, at least. Afterwards I measured and banded the babies as #1087-1088, #1088-1091. 24 September 945. Up at Plague Annex while I was passing by was a ♀: 9mv-wm / mv-wm, possibly 9984 from Plague? Katy reports these birds are down at Plague, mingling freely. See her notes for 9/23. *Group Update* As of the end of the year, three birds have returned to Plague permanently while the others have disappeared (8983 later disappeared) 8723, j1089, j1090 abandoned and returned (or moved) to Plague shortly after the young fledged in June. Both 8723 & 8983 fed at Plague's 2nd nest in Mid-July → all Abandoned (SA) 20 June ± 1 wk. 9818. Abandoned too, seen at 1500 once on 7 July (Missy). j1091, 1092. Neither seen after banding.
