1985 Walker D. Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Buckeye HNHR (21 April) he was not present in spring 1984. Philip saw no evidence of him 21 Sept 1984, but by 4 Oct. I saw 4 birds roosting here, 1 of whom I presume to have been this bird. Hence: Rejoined group (returned) 1 October 1984 27 April 1700. Found and opened the nest here. They have 4 babies, the oldest of which still has closed eyes but the feather tracts are visible: I guess 7-8 days, which puts them with an Est. LED of ~9 April. 15 May 1530. This is it: 4 babies, banded #1000-1003. ① 1000 ② 1001 ③ 1002 ④ 1003 80.7 (85) 80.7 (89) 91.2 (85) 83.9 (74) Dev. sequence: Tied 1st Tied a close 3rd more distant 4th 22 May 1830. None in any holes up here. 19 June 1715. Bird in the nest hole. Could be a 2nd nest. 20 June 1430. Checked the hole: nothing. 25 June Mark S. saw bird in the hole. ~25 August A lot of acorns remain here (Stamback)
