9 Jan 69 Janet sooty term ant and Butler picked up 4 returns. This is a very closely packed colony, despite abundant room for expansion on exactly comparable open ground. The nesting area was primarily on open ground densely inter- spersed with the matted tufts of short grass. Occasional tall 9-10 foot clumps of Miscanthus interspersed. Many of the birds building neat leaf nests. Some Sponera throughout portions of the nesting area.
