9 Jan 69 Tamet Sooty tern colony: A small portion of ca. 4000 birds (first impression estimate) is roughly in the center of the runway, mostly on the north side. These were almost invariably with one day old down to just hatching chicks. The few eggs noted were often partially piped. Of 27 adults that I banded here, 25 were taken off recently hatched chicks (many with the egg shells lying beneath the adult) and two were taken of eggs.
