June 23 Forbes shot two hours this morning: best in 17 sparrows (from agricultural gardens). These were turned over to Zool. Dept. for class work and no record kept of sexes, etc. June 26 Forbes shot in gardenes this morning. Best in 26 sparrows: 2 ad. ♀♀, 4 ad. ♂♂, and 20 juvenals. Of the juvenals 8 are ♀♀, 9 ♂♂, 3 indeterminate. 1916 W.C. Newberry operating. January 12. Shot on campus, near Harmon gym. for about ½ hour (7:15 - 7:45 A.M.) 3 ♂♂ brought in and one lost after being shot. Total 4 sparrows. Note: Saw English Sparrow (♂) attack two dwarf hemlock shrubs and drive same out of tree. Was not found mingling with any other species.
