Charles A. Ely December 3, 1963 (20° 48.5' N - 158° 52' W) Specimens 1 of 1 Diomedea nigripes--FNO435. Captured by Bob Fleet with a hand line from YAG 39 at 1775. ♀ - ovary 30/ 1¼ mm; 1. ova - 15 mm. weight 6 lbs. (about 2100 gms). data by Bratley skin by Ely. Heavy fat. Soft parts colors - iris dark brown; legs black; bill light brown, black at base and hooks grayish black. Gape pink in middle, blue at edges and toward throat. Molt - fresh plumage. (20° 56' N - 158° 33' W) Diomedea nigripes FNO434. Captured by Bob Fleet with a hand line from YAG 39 at 1600. ♂ testes 26 X 17 mm. weight 7 lbs (about 3200 gm.) heavy fat. data and skin by Bratley. Soft part colors - iris dark brown; legs black; bill light brown, black at base and hooks gray black. gape pink in middle, blue at edges and toward throat. Molt - fresh plumage. December 4, 1963 1 of 2 Day was warm with very little wind - from partly cloudy to clear with deep swells but almost no waves. 0630 - observations began. 0636 - black - footed ablatross 2 - following ship 0644 - Sooty Tern 1 - S 0648 - Wedgetail 3 following astern 0652 - frigate 1 E 0704 - wedgetails 5 follwing astern
