CAE. 1427 - Phoenix Island Petrel ? 1 N brown not black under wings WK 1430 - Phoenix Islad Petrel ? 1 NE probably above bird. Looked very chucky. Dark brown above, white below; mottled brown and white under wings. Coa. 1435 - Sooty Tern 1 Ne 1452 - Harcourt's Storm Petrel 1 Ne 1457 - White-tailed Tropicbird 1 Ne 1540 - Sea bird sp.? 9 2 - 3 miles off starboard - high above horizon - frigate or terns - most likely the latter. 1645 - Wedgetail 1 WSW 1745 - Wedgetail - 1 very long loose floci; not feeding. flock Fairy Tern 1 NW 12 sooties very high up. Sooty Tern 16 1838 - secured bird watch. December 17 Coll; moderate NE wind; low sea; no whitecaps; partly cloudy.
